Nicer resort for older teens with moderate activities, Xcaret is overkill?

Nicer Resort Options for Older Teens with Moderate Activities: Is Xcaret Overkill?

A family vacation question from a family of four with two high schoolers (ages 15 and 18): we’re seeking a relaxing Christmas escape for 6–7 nights and need lodging with three separate beds. Our typical pattern is Airbnb with a mix of activities and touring, but this time the kids are asking for a more laid-back experience.

Budget and preferences:
– Target overall: around $10,000 (give or take)
– Accommodation: something nicer than standard hotel rooms, and capable of accommodating three beds
– Activities: some options would be nice, but the family prefers not to feel obligated to use every amenity
– Interest in on-site activities: paddle boarding, a good gym, yoga classes, ping pong, volleyball, snorkeling, and a night show would be welcome if available
– Food: decent dining options would be a plus

Key consideration:
– Is a destination like Xcaret (an eco-park-related resort with extensive amenities) too much for our needs? We don’t want to pay for amenities we won’t use or feel compelled to stay longer solely to justify the price.

What would you recommend for a relaxing, family-friendly Christmas getaway with moderate activities, comfortable accommodations for four, and a balanced mix of rest and engaging options? Is Xcaret overkill for our criteria, or are there comparable alternatives that strike a better balance between relaxation, activities, and value?
