Grandma Passes Away En Route to the Airport: Reconsidering Travel Plans and Funeral Arrangements

A family member recently lost a loved one to stage 4 cancer, and the news arrived just as I was en route to the airport for a planned holiday to Taiwan and Hong Kong. Given the circumstances, I don’t anticipate enjoying the trip, and I’ve decided to cancel the journey to return home for the funeral.

I’m seeking experiences from others who have faced a similar situation. Additionally, I’m unsure about the possibility of recovering any of the trip costs and would appreciate guidance or tips on navigating refunds or travel insurance in this context.
