Grand Velas Riviera Maya vs Nayarit with 2 year old
Grand Velas Riviera Maya vs. Riviera Nayarit with a Toddler: A Family Vacation Guide
Planning our first all-inclusive trip for February, our small family—my husband (40) and our 2.5-year-old—and I are considering Grand Velas as the centerpiece of the getaway. The resort’s beauty, acclaimed cuisine, and cocktail program are strong draws, and the property’s family-friendly branding gives us hope it will be suitable for a young child. Our travel options include direct flights from Denver to either Riviera Maya or Riviera Nayarit.
Riviera Nayarit appeals to me because of my affection for Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding mountains, and I’m curious about the calmer, more tranquil waters that might be better for a toddler. On the other hand, Riviera Maya appears larger in scale, which could translate to more dining and activity options, but I wonder if the water is gentler there as well.
Have you traveled with toddlers to either Grand Velas location? I’d love to hear your experiences and practical tips. We tend to be more active travelers than those who prefer to lounge, but I’m trying to set realistic expectations for a relaxing vacation with a two-year-old. I’d love a splash pad or similar kid-friendly feature, though we’re prioritizing some adult time too.
As a sidenote, we’ve visited Cabo once and weren’t enamored with the beach swimming conditions, though I’ve heard Grand Velas in Cabo is highly regarded. If you have firsthand insights comparing these destinations for families with young children, I’m all ears.
