I’m a 28-year-old planning an 8–10 day solo journey to Egypt this January, aiming to visit Cairo, Giza, Luxor, and Aswan. I’m weighing the options between booking a comprehensive tour package and organizing everything myself. Typically, I prefer DIY travel to set my own pace at historical sites, but I’ve read about potential street hassles, touts, and tricky intercity logistics in Egypt.

For those who have traveled recently, which approach makes the most sense: a fully escorted end-to-end tour, a 100% DIY plan, or a hybrid model where I handle flights and hotels but hire local day guides?

Additionally, if I travel DIY from India on an e-Visa, is a “Guarantee Letter” from a local agency still required at immigration? Any practical advice or recommendations for reliable local operators would be greatly appreciated.
