Is 3h layover at JFK enough during winter peaks around 20th December
Is a 3-Hour Layover at JFK Sufficient During Winter Peak (Around December 20)?
I’m considering an exceptionally cheap itinerary from Mumbai to Buenos Aires on a single ticket, priced around $1,000, with a 2 hour 55 minute layover at JFK. My understanding is that, regardless of whether I’m just transiting, I would need to collect any checked bags, re-check them, and go through security and immigration upon entry to the United States. We hold a B1/B2 visa.
An alternative route to the same destination is via Ethiopia, priced around $1,400. I’m seeking guidance on whether a 3-hour layover at JFK is realistic given potential winter storms and immigration procedures.
Note: This is a single-ticket itinerary operated by American Airlines, with travel dates between December 20 and December 22.
