Is travel to India possible as a Pakistani-American if I have ties to the military?

Title: Exploring the Possibility of Traveling to India as a Pakistani-American with Military Tamily Ties

Body:
For high school seniors in our international study program, spring break is a time to broaden horizons through guided travel. Our class has just learned that the destination for our senior trip is India, which is exciting for many reasons—seeing the Taj Mahal, experiencing Indian culture, and practicing Hindi with friends.

I’m an American-born student with two Pakistani immigrant parents, and I currently hold US citizenship and a US passport. My family background includes significant military ties: my maternal grandfather was a veteran who served in a conflict with India, and my paternal uncle is actively involved in the Pakistani military in a higher leadership role. While I don’t claim to be an expert on the political nuances or current events between Pakistan and India, I personally advocate for peace and do not support the actions of the Pakistani military. I recognize that I cannot control my family’s affiliations, but I want to understand how they might impact travel plans.

My main question is whether it would be possible for me to participate in the India trip given these connections. I’ve been looking forward to this opportunity since I joined the program in my sophomore year, hoping to celebrate a memorable high school send-off with friends—enjoy shopping, food, and the chance to converse in Hindi.

A note: this is my second time posting on Reddit, and I’m cross-posting this inquiry to other subreddits as well. If you have any guidance on travel eligibility, visa considerations, or program-specific policies related to travelers with family military ties, I would greatly appreciate your insights.
